GOOD NEWS: MANY ON LINE PERFORMANCES

There are many on line performances we can enjoy in the safety of our homes at no cost:

Lonely House is both the title of a song by the late Kurt Weill and a cabaret/concert on www.operavision.eu featuring actress-singer Katharine Mehrling and Barrie Kosky at the piano presenting songs from Kurt Weill’s days in Paris and New York, including standards September Song and Speak Low. Catch it anytime between now and January 22.

Opera Vision also has quite a number of classical music concerts, operas from several European companies, and ballets. All free.

www.gso.se/en/gsoplay is the web address for the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra – the National Orchestra of Sweden. Each year about 100 concerts are held in the Gothenburg Concert Hall at Götaplatsen. The orchestra broadcasts them on demand in full HD.

Husband and wife in life, concert pianists on the concert stage Ran Dank and Soyeon Kate Lee took on a monumental program as part of the Library of Congress Concert Series this past December 12. It included Franz Liszt’s transcription of Beethoven’s Symphony no. 9 in D Minor, op. 125 for two pianos, and the two-piano transcription of the symphonic poem, Les Préludes.

Both these fine artists are members of the piano faculty at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Their superb playing of the all-Liszt program can be enjoyed on
